Staying at the Anchorage Hotel, Babbacombe
Monday 6th -
5 Days
Day 1
We make a morning departure and travel through Somerset and onto Devon and the Anchorage Hotel. We have four nights at the Anchorage Hotel. The hotel has an enviable reputation for the warmest of welcomes along with good food, comfortable accommodation along with evening entertainment.
Day 2
This morning we make our way through the Devon countryside toward Totnes and the Darlington Cider Press Centre. The Cider Press Centre has shops featuring craft, glass, gifts, fashion etc. After ample time here we travel towards the coast and enjoy a tour of the Torbay area before returning to our hotel.
Day 3
We take a route in the opposite direction for our excursion today visiting Otter nurseries and garden centre and Plymouth. At the garden centre we will have time to meander, under cover, through the fragrance and beauty of the plant centre and browse the extensive gift ware and leisure displays. There is also an excellent restaurant which has a reputation for delicious home made food. We then make our way to Plymouth which overlooks one of the worlds great natural harbours. Plymouth is home to Plymouth Hoe, Plymouth Gin Distillery, The National Marine Aquarium, the Pavilions and the largest shopping centre in the region. We will be able to explore and enjoy the area before our return journey to Babbacombe and our evening entertainment.
Day 4
Something quite different today, this morning we visit Exmouth. Exmouth is a lively town situated on the east coast of Devon where the River Exe meets the sea. The town offers a diverse selection of shops, places to eat and things to do as well as two miles of stunning beach. Time this morning, at leisure, to appreciate the area and have lunch. After lunch we board a Stuart Line vessel and take a warm winter cruise on the calm and sheltered waters of the River Exe. The vessel is covered and heated with bar and toilet on board. We will have a free tea or coffee and a full commentary on the thousands of wintering birds. Entertainment again follows this evenings dinner.
Day 5
Leaving Babbacombe this morning we retrace our journey making a lunch stop en route and arriving home mid afternoon.
