Staying at the Anchorage Hotel, Babbacombe
Sunday 19th -
6 Days
Day 1
This morning we board our coach and travel through the West Country to the Anchorage Hotel at Babbacombe for our five night stay. We are always assured of a warm welcome, good food and entertainment at this, one of our favourite hotels.
Days 2 -
We have included a varied plan of included excursions with something that we hope will please everyone. We visit The Bicton Park Botanical Gardens where there is so much to see and do. Spanning nearly 300 years of gardening history the park is home to rare and beautiful species from around the world. They are at least nine themed gardens as well as a quaint shell house and a 19th Century summerhouse. One of the best ways to explore the 63 acre park is by the narrow gauge Bicton Woodland Railway which takes you on a 25 minute ride through the garden and returns alongside the lake. A countryside museum is only one of the other many attractions. A tour of the Dartmoor National park with a guide to tell us of the fascinating area with all it’s myths and legends makes for another great day out with an opportunity to stop for traditional cream tea, maybe at the renowned Widecombe in the Moor. The lovely town of Sidmouth with its long flat promenade, easily accessible pebble beach, nearby town and parks and balmy climate completes our excursions for this summer holiday break. We return to the hotel each evening to enjoy a pleasant dinner and evening entertainment. We also have a day at leisure in Babbacombe.
Day 6
We leave Sidmouth this morning and make our way home. We make a lunch stop en route and arrive home late afternoon.
