DARTMOOR AND CORNISH GARDENS
Staying at the Legacy Hotel, Plymouth
Monday 6th -
5 Days
Day 1
We join our coach this morning and travel through the West Country and on to Plymouth. Our four night stay is at the Legacy Hotel.
Days 2 -
We will be visiting beautiful gardens, touring Dartmoor and travelling on the Plymouth to Gunnislake train as well as some time at leisure to enjoy Plymouth, perhaps visit the Barbican Quater, Plymouth Hoe or even Plymouth Gin distilled locally and famous for being the gin of the Royal Navy. We visit Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park set in grade one Cornish gardens with 865 acres of park on the Rame Peninsula, former home of the Earls of mount Edgcumbe we will see the house and Earls Garden. The Eden Project is based in a large crater housing two vast (biomes) greenhouses. These house plants, crops and landscapes from across the world. The Eden Project is always changing and on each visit you can discover something different. Our train journey is on the famous Tamar Valley line from Plymouth to Gunnislake. This fourteen mile railway skirts the edge of the magnificent River Tamar and its estuary before crossing the splendid Calstock Viaduct which joins Devon and Cornwall. The journey has views of the Royal Naval dockyard and the Royal Albert Bridge before crossing the Tary viaduct. Our coach will meet the train and Gunnislake and then we have a scenic tour of the superb Dartmoor National Park.
Day 5
We say goodbye to Plymouth this morning and make our return journey. We will make a stop at Cadbury Garden Centre for some time, at leisure, before arriving home in the afternoon.
