HOLLAND SPRING CRUISE
Aboard the MPS Emeralda
Thursday 14th – Tuesday 19th April
6 Days
Day 1
Following an early start we travel to Dover where we board the ferry for the short sea crossing to Calais, on arrival we rejoin our coach and travel through northern France passing Dunkerque and into Belgium and on to Leuven. Here we spend the night at the Novotel Hotel Leuven Centrum
.
Day 2
Today we travel across the border into Holland and on to Lisse to visit the beautiful Keukenhof Gardens before arriving in Amsterdam during the late afternoon for embarkation onto MPS Esmeralda. Once boarded we cruise the short distance to Zaandam where we will dock overnight. Dinner and overnight will be on board.
Day 3
This morning after breakfast on board we take an excursion to the beautifully restored Dutch village at Zaanse Schans with it’s characteristic wooden houses, museums and windmills. We return to the Esmeralda for lunch and during the afternoon cruise to Alkmaar a busy town famed for it’s ancient cheese market. Dinner and overnight will be on board.
Day 4
An early departure this morning as we cruise to the bustling port of Hoorn, birthplace of the explorer William Schouten (who named the famous Cape Horn after his hometown). Take time to explore the 17th century merchant houses and warehouses lining the waterfront as well as the huge variety of ships, boats and yachts in the harbour. This evening we cruise to Volendam where we dock overnight.
Day 5
After breakfast we depart from Volendam for Amsterdam . After lunch our coach will take us into the centre of this fascinating city, maybe visit one of the many museums or art galleries, visit Anne Frank’s house or spend time shopping or sightseeing. A relaxing way to see the city is by a glass topped canal cruise (driver can arrange). Later we return to the Esmeralda in time for our Captain’s farewell dinner.
Day 6
This morning we disembark after breakfast and travel to Calais for our return crossing to Dover. At Dover we rejoin our coach and continue homeward arriving during the evening.
