THE BREATHTAKING LAKE DISTRICT

Staying at the MacDonald Swan  Hotel, Grasmere

Day 1

Following our morning departure we travel northwards making the usual refreshment stops en-route. We arrive in Grasmere in the afternoon for our four night stay at the Swan Hotel. The Swan Hotel was built in 1650 as a coaching inn and has breathtaking views across the Fells, the ultimate getaway in a great location.

 

Day 2-4

During our stay in the Lake District we have included various excursions. They include a visit to nearby Grasmere, best known as the home of poet William Wordsworth and a place he once described as “the most loveliest place that man hath found”. A tour of the Southern lakes taking in Windermere, Bowness on Windermere and returning via Coniston Water. The Northern lakes via the Kirkstone Pass then travelling along Ullswater and on to Keswick returning via Thirlmere Lake then a visit to the popular town of Kendal, famous for it’s mint cake. Kendal is also a great shopping centre with a mix of high street names, factory outlets and traditional markets.

 

Day 5

We leave Grasmere this morning and travel south for our return journey toward home. We arrive in the afternoon
