LAKES AND BORDERS

Staying at the Hallmark Hotel, Carlisle

Friday 13th – Monday 16th May 2011

4 Days

 

Day 1

Following an early start we travel northwards to Carlisle making the usual stops en-route. The four star Hallmark Hotel is a traditional Victorian building conveniently located in the city centre. This is our base for our three nights Lakes and Borders holiday.

 

Day 2

Today a local guide will take us on an introductory tour of the city’s attractions, before time at leisure to explore places of interest such as Carlisle Castle and Cathedral. There is excellent shopping in the Lanes complex and refurbished Victorian Market Hall. We return to the hotel in the afternoon for dinner and an evening at leisure.

 

Day 3

Today we have a full day excursion to the Lake District. We follow a circular route taking in this area’s scenic locations from Ullswater to Windermere and Ambleside to Keswick, returning to our hotel by late afternoon.

 

Day 4

Today we board the Carlisle to Settle railway for a journey through the Eden Valley and onward across the Yorkshire Dales. We rejoin our coach in Settle and continue homeward arriving by early evening after making the usual refreshment stops.
