WARNERS LEISURE BREAK

Staying at the Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel, North Wales

Monday 25th – Friday 29th April 2011

5 Days

 

Day 1

Following a morning departure we travel through the West Midlands and Shropshire to Llangollen for a lunchtime stop before continuing to North Wales and the magnificent Victorian building overlooking the rugged North Wales coastline which is the Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel. Bodelwyddan is set in 200 acres of parkland and is home to the National Portrait Gallery as well as having a comprehensive leisure complex. This is our base for the next four nights.

 

Day 2

Today we make the short journey to the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno. Sheltered by the Great Orme this classic resort with its wide promenade, pier and good selection of shops is the Queen of resorts in North Wales. We return to our hotel in the afternoon with time to enjoy the leisure facilities before dinner.

 

Day 3

Today we journey across the Snowdonia National Park Making our first stop at Betws-y-Coed. Later we continue to the Italianate village of Portmeirion, setting for the original TV series of “The Prisoner”.  We will have time to explore this unique site, find out why and how it was developed, experience the 70 acre woodland garden and maybe return with a piece of the pottery that takes it’s name from Portmeirion.

 

Day 4

Today we travel to the Isle of Anglesey. We cross the Menai Straights and make a coffee stop at Llanfair PG, this is the abbreviated version of the longest place name in the UK. Afterwards we continue to the pretty town of Beaumaris. The town lies on the shore of the Menai Straights with views across to Bangor and Snowdonia. Later we travel to the ancient city of Caernarfon where Prince Charles was invested at Caernarfon Castle.

 

Day 5

This morning we leave Bodelwyddan Castle and commence our homeward journey. We make a stop in the picturesque and historic city of Chester. Here we can walk the ancient city walls or enjoy the shoppers paradise which is “The Rows”, visit the cathedral or one of the lovely parks. During the afternoon we continue towards  home arriving in the early evening.
