Day 1

We board our coach this morning and head towards Kettering for our weekend of wartime nostalgia. En route we visit Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. We continue our journey to the four star Kettering Park Hotel and Spa where we spend the next three nights.

 

Day 2

After breakfast this morning we join our coach and travel to Cambridge for a guided tour of this charming city. We will tour the city’s cobbled courts, gardens and Cambridge colleges. This afternoon we continue to Duxford to visit the Imperial War Museum. One of the finest preserved examples of a wartime airfield Duxford is now home to various exhibitions telling the story of it’s history including the 1940s Operations room, a Battle of Britain display and a wide variety of aircraft and seafaring vessels.

 

Day 3

Perhaps the highlight of this tour, today we enjoy a visit to Bletchley Park National Codes Centre. There are a variety of activities and exhibitions at the centre including the Victorian mansion that was home to the intelligence staff during the war, the outstanding Churchill collection and,of course, the famous Enigma machine. We have the day here to experience the wartime nostalgia,hear tales of spies and strategic deception and how the high level intelligence produced here provided crucial assistance to the Allied war effort.

 

Day 4

We leave Kettering this morning for our homeward journey arriving in the afternoon. We break our journey at Stratford for a short visit and coffee stop.
